The Characters:

Zach Ross (mid-20 look): Zach is a photojournalist who’s coming off of a hot-streak as the “go-to” photographer in Seattle Washington. His flaw is that he’s spent most of his time running away from problems rather than face them directly and this is made evident in his return to the small town of Lawson for his brother’s funeral. Actors we will consider for this role are Caucasian and “athletic” fit look or of average build between 5’9-6’3. This is a key role so we prefer a health-conscious individual who can handle the involvement.

Mia Lombard (mid-20 look): Mia is a spontaneous gal from Lawson whose free-spirited attitude can come as a shock to those not familiar with her ways. She also happened to be Zach’s high school sweetheart. Actors considered for this role are of “athletic”  fit or range from thin/slim to average size build. Hair color is non-descript – we won’t sacrifice talent based on a hair style. We accept auditions from actors of any ethnicity for the role of Mia. This is a key role so we prefer a health-conscious individual who can handle the involvement.

Walter Kazinski: (60′s or + look):  People in Lawson view Walter as an oddball eccentric who lives on a ranch outside of town. It turns out he wasn’t always like this and when the strange events occur around town we learn he knows more than most. Actors auditioning for Walter should be thin, lean, or of “fit” build as he spends his time on a ranch. Walter is Caucasian and has grey hair.

Sherriff Costa (40’s or+ look): Sheriff Costa is a good-hearted cop who has a tendency to make a fool of himself by letting his mouth run just a little more than it should. He means well, but never really wanted to be a cop. Actors auditioning for Costa can range from any ethnicity and body shape from fit build, average for size, to slightly overweight.  Costa is a comedic relief character, so actors with a sense of timing and control of their facial expressions are preferred.

Charlie Ross (40’s or+ look): Charlie is Zach and Sam’s dad. He’s raised the boys on his own since his wife passed away years prior. He was always told not to show his emotions and as a result finds solace in the bottom of a bottle. He means well but just doesn’t know how to show his love for his boys. Actors auditioning for Charlie are Caucasian and in-shape or of average body weight for their size. He has made a living using his hands and lifting a lot of heavy equipment.

Sam Ross (late-teen/early 20’s look): Sam works as a mechanic with his dad and is head-over-heels in love with Emily Dawson. Actors audition for Sam are Caucasian and are of “athletic” build in look from being involved in sports in his high school years and working in a shop.

Emily Dawson (late-teen/early 20’s look): A young and somewhat naive waitress. She is with Sam the night of his mysterious death and becomes the focus of Zach and Mia’s investigation for truth after she disappears from her normal life-routine. Actors auditioning for Emily can be of any ethnicity and should range between slim, athletic, to average weight for their size.

Mark, Lance, and Jake, (Mid-Late Teens):

These three boys are best friends with an overzealous imagination and document all of their investigations into mysterious events and the paranormal on a handheld camera. They get into a bit of trouble on occasion from their love of monsters, movies, and pranks. We do not have specifics for actors auditioning for these roles as we want to build them as a diverse group of friends who get along because there aren’t many other kids/teens their age in Lawson. These characters provide comedic relief from their relationship and living “in their own world”.

Audition Info

Auditions to be held on Thurs May 17^th and Fri May 18^th at SAIT Polytechnic in room MD212 (HEART BUILDING on map) from 9am-4pm. We ask all actors and actresses auditioning to provide a headshot along with 2 audition pieces that showcase a varying range of character ability. No more than 7 minutes total. We will also provide sides for a cold read for some parts. If you cannot make either of these days and are interested, we will accept digital video auditions. About the Production:

This project is a Non-Union, Feature-Length project shooting in August for 1-2 weeks. We will schedule filming to be efficient while respecting the time required of our cast. This is a non-paying project, however we will provide food and coffee for your time with us to help make it as pleasant as possible. The project is ambitious and we have a small and highly skilled skeleton crew lined up. We work fast and hard to get the job done while keeping the atmosphere light for actors to remain creative: We are advocates of discovery and performance.
